SHE project aims to counter the growing phenomenon of misogynistic and sexist online hate speech, which is a violation of common values and fundamental EU rights such as dignity, gender equality, non-discrimination and freedom of information and expression. Young people are the most exposed to misogynistic hate speech on social media, with young women as the main targets. The specific objectives are:
– to raise young people’s awareness of misogynistic and sexist hate speech online and the risks to European values and fundamental rights;
– to improve young people’s digital skills and critical thinking to recognise and deconstruct misogynistic hate speech online
– to develop young people’s capacities for empathic and alternative counter-narratives to counter misogynistic and sexist hate speech;
– to enhance youth workers’ skills in supporting young people in tackling challenges related to online misogynistic and sexist hate speech;
– to promote European cooperation to tackle online hate speech with shared strategies.

SHE combines prevention and immediate support through two main outputs:
1)MOOC for youth educators containing resources and tools to develop skills in supporting young people to address challenges related to sexist and misogynistic hate speech. Educators will acquire skills to stimulate critical thinking and digital literacy in young people, guiding them in analysing digital mechanisms that amplify hate and in creating alternative narratives;
2) EDUCATIONAL SUITE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE ‘ADVOCATES’: an innovative educational programme that increases the resilience of young people in terms of values, attitudes and skills to recognise and counter misogynistic hatred online. It is based on a workshop process structured in four phases: awareness-raising, critical training, activation, protagonism.
